OUR CLASSES
At the Mount Anthony Karate Center, Sikaran School of Vermont, we come to class as brothers and sisters—and we leave the same way. Every student learns discipline, focus, and respect: for one another, our instructors, our space, and the generations who came before us. Each class begins and ends by honoring that tradition, reinforcing the values that guide us both inside and outside the dojo.
What to expect during a typical Sikaran class
Every Sikaran class is a blend of discipline, focus, and fun. After falling in, students pay respect to the school, Grandmaster, Master, and instructors—an important tradition that sets the tone. Each class will begin with stretching followed by a group warm-up to get the body moving and the mind focused. Once warmed up, you’ll move into deeper learning through skill-building drills that teach the core techniques of Sikaran—a traditional Filipino martial art, to prepare the mind and body for the work ahead.
Classes are structured, supportive, and designed to challenge students at every level, whether it’s your first class or your first belt promotion. We focus on core Sikaran techniques through kicks, drills, and forms, with occasional sparring or self-defense training woven in. Expect to sweat, challenge yourself, and have fun—every class is structured, supportive, and rooted in tradition.
Each class session ends the way it began—with gratitude and respect for each other and those who came before. Expect to sweat, grow, and challenge yourself. Every class is hard—but always fun!

KIDS CLASSES
Join Sifu Lyla every Tuesday and Thursday from 4 –5PM and watch as she helps give your child the confidence, discipline, and skills required to succeed with our kids’ Sikaran classes! This program is offered to ages 6–12 years old and introduces the fundamentals of Sikaran, a Filipino martial art. Upon signing up, your child will receive their first gi and white belt to begin their journey.
ADULT CLASSES
Lead by Master Joe Bump, and assisted by his black belts, in our adult class ages 13 and up, you will discover the power of Sikaran, a dynamic Filipino martial art that places a strong emphasis on powerful kicking techniques. Classes is offered every Tuesday and Thursday from 6–7:30 PM. This class builds a strong foundation in technique, discipline, and self-improvement. Whether you’re a beginner or ready to advance to your next belt, this is your opportunity to gain confidence, grow, and master your own potential.


WOMENS SELF DEFENSE
Empower yourself with this 6 week course taught by our very own Master Joe! Designed for groups of six or more, this one-hour twice a week class covers both basic and advanced techniques to help you stay safe and confident—no matter your age or experience level. Perfect for teens, mom's and professionals alike looking to gain knowledge and valuable skills for personal safety, including physical techniques, situational awareness, and de-escalation strategies. Scheduling is flexible based on your group’s availability, so gather your group and take the first step toward strength and self-assurance!
