| SPARRING: 1. All matches will be scored with the head referee and four corner Judges. 2. Punches and kicks are equally valued as one point. 3. The head, side of the head to the collarbone, including the back and top of the head is a point with absolutely no contact. 4. The midsection, from the breastplate down to and including the lower stomach, not including the arms, is a point with controlled contact. 5. The side of the body, from the shoulder to the kidney, the side of the neck and the 1/2 shoulder closet to the neck, excluding the spinal area and arms, is a point, with controlled contact. 6. The back area is no point, no contact, and includes the entire spinal column. Any other part of the back, such as shoulders, is no point. 7. All matches under black belt will be three points. All black belt matches will be five points. 8. A 3-minute time limit will be imposed. Time starts and stops with the judges. In the event of a tie, sudden death will occur and the next point will determine the winner. 9. The head referee in each ring will have absolute final word and decision in the match. Referees will use information provided by the judges in helping them to arrive at a decision. Head referees' and tournament officials' decisions are final. |

| KATA (Weapons & Form): 1. Forms will be judged according to a ten point judging system. 2. Stopping during a form will automatically deduct 1 point from the total score. (Scorers will make the adjustment.) Stopping twice during a form will result in disqualification. 3. Forms will be judged according to: a. Stability and Balance b. Strength and Spirit c. Form and Concentration d. Technique 4. Scoring will be done by hand count with half points shown by the knife edge of hand on palm. Judges will display the scores simultaneously, the timer will call out the scores to confirm them. The lowest and highest scores will be dropped and the remaining three scores will be added for the score. 5. In the event of a tie, the losest score for the tied competitors will be added to their totals. If a tie remains, then the highest scores will be added. If a tie still remains, then the competitors will perform a second kata and the resulting scores will determine the winner. 6. Judges will not be changed in the middle of a division. 7. Dropping a weapon will result in disqualification. The use of any weapon in an unsafe mannor will disqualify the competitor. All martial arts weapons including a live blade is acceptable. Head Judge has the responsibility to inspect and certify the weapon as acceptable. |
