Sensei Leo Betit

Leo started his life in Sikaran in April, 2001.  He had already had a small taste because both his son and daughter were in class.  The first time found a timid, mild mannered gentleman, who was detail oriented, but slow to learn.  With the help of some of the senior students, Leo soon found himself learning despite his best attempt not to.  In Leo, we found a natural leader, if such a thing exists.  He was eager to help and assist with those students who needed help.  His maturity and life experience would prove to be a strong asset to the school.  As the years progressed, Leo became more adept at Sikaran, but the name would follow him forever.  He came to be known as the Sikaran Sloth.  This was an inside joke for the longest time.  In 2004, Leo tested and passed his promotion to Black Belt.  As head instructor for the school, his cool and collected manner stands ready to give knowledge to even the toughest student.  He is our anchor in the sea and keeps us upright and sturdy. Background: Leo is married with 3 children and 1 granddaughter. Leo served in the Navy and later in the Army National Guard, where he finally retired in 2008..  He deployed to Iraq for a year, returning in Dec 2005. His hobbies include fishing, hunting, trapping, Boy Scouts and family.  He is a certified instructor in hunter safety and teaches each year.

The Sloth I may be slow, but don't get me upset.
